On Sunday 15th March, while many were celebrating Mother’s Day, 24 swimmers from Cally Masters took to the pool for the 2026 Middlesex County ASA Masters Competition. With the meet typically taking place in May, the earlier date brought a fresh challenge: getting race‑ready weeks ahead of the usual schedule. Naturally, Cally rose to the occasion.
We delivered an outstanding haul of podium finishes across the day. Among the standout performers were Sara Perry and Sue Green who led the charge with an incredible five gold medals each. On the men’s side, Jon Kernkraut and Paul O’Neill both stormed home with three golds and one silver each. In total, 12 of our women and 9 of our men secured podium places – an exceptional achievement and a real testament to the level of talent we have at the club. Overall, Cally won the day with 1090 points, topped the women’s competition with 546 points, and secured second place in the men’s standings with 396 points, just behind Out to Swim on 466.
As always, this year’s squad was a fantastic blend of experience and new energy – seasoned Cally racers lining up alongside teammates making their club debut and swimmers competing for the very first time. And true to form, the commitment on display was unmistakable. Some raced in the middle of moving house, others just hours before boarding an international flight, all bringing the trademark Cally mix of grit, humour, and team spirit.
A huge well done to everyone who competed, cheered, time‑kept, organised, or simply brought the energy on the day. Cally Masters is already looking forward to returning next year to defend the title once again!
